Florida's Natural Wonders
More than a dozen nature preserves stretch across the Bradenton Area, each one showcasing a different side of Florida’s natural landscape. Mangrove boardwalks, bird-filled wetlands, and coastal ecosystems give nature lovers plenty of reasons to spend time here.
Emerson Point Preserve
Just west of Palmetto on Snead Island, this 365-acre coastal preserve features hiking trails, mangrove boardwalks, and sweeping views of Tampa Bay. Don’t miss the Portavant Mound, a 1,200-year-old Native American site listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Palmetto Estuary Preserve
A peaceful escape into nature, this 20-acre preserve features shell-lined walking trails, native Florida habitats, and a scenic setting near the Manatee River. It’s an easy place to walk, spot wildlife, and experience Palmetto’s natural landscape.
Robinson Preserve
Snead Island’s crown jewel, just west of Palmetto. Hike shelled coastal trails, walk boardwalks through protected ecosystems, and climb the observation tower for sweeping views of Tampa Bay. The 1,200-year-old Portavant Mound alone is worth the visit.
Neal Preserve
Found on Perico Island in northwest Bradenton, this 120-acre coastal sanctuary is a haven for birdwatchers. A half-mile walking loop and two-story observation platform offer stunning views of the Intracoastal Waterway and the chance to spot gulls, terns, ospreys, and more.
